About us
There is no better place in the world to study the Russian language as in Moscow, surrounded by Russian people, Russian places and Russian culture
Established in 1990, BKC-International House has since grown into the largest language school in Moscow, in Russia and Eastern Europe. In 1996 BKC-Moscow joined International Hourse World Organization - a network of over 140 languages schools in more than 40 countries, founded in 1953 by John and Brita Haycraft.
Over the last nineteen years we've been improving all the services aimed at providing our language students with quality language courses as well as our international team of teachers with excellent opportunities for professional development.
Apart from being a language school, BKC-IH is also an international examination centre. In 2004 BKC-IH became the second in Russia (after the British Council) authorized IELTS test centre. Since 2007 BKC is an authorized centre for Cambridge ESOL Examinations.
BKC-IH is also an authorized Cambridge Teacher Training Center, which offers such programmes as CELTA, DELTA, TKT etc.
The educational process at BKC-IH is supervised by a large team of Senior Teachers, ADOSes and DOSes. All teachers are regularly observed and participate in monthly seminars and weekly workshops and trainings to ensure that they comply with the highest International House educational standards.
BKC-Globus was set up as part of BKC-IH in 1999 and since then grew into a big school, which specializes in teaching French, German, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese and Russian as a Foreign Language.
The communicative approach, which is used in our school, ensures that besides learning grammar and new words, students will be able to communicate in the language they study.
Location
There are around 30 branches of BKC school in Moscow. 5 of them are situated in the historical centre of the city (Tverskaya, Kuznetsky Most, Kropotkinskaya and Chistie Prudy metro stations).
The BKC-Globus school, where Russian classes take place, is situated in one of the oldest and most beautiful parts of Moscow, at Myasnitskaya street, between Chistye Prudy and Lubyanka metro stations, only 20 minutes walk from the Kremlin and the Red Square.
Myasnitskaya street was built in the 15th century when tsar Ivan III ordered a church to be built just outside Kitay-Gorod. By the mid-17th century the street was mainly inhabited by butchers, who opened shops there, hence the name (мясник /myasnik/ is translated from Russian as butcher).
In Peter the Great's times the street Myasnitskaya became the road from the Kremlin to Nemetskaya Sloboda (the outskirts of Moscow populated mainly by German merchants, where Peter the Great liked spending his time). It became popular among the new Russian aristocracy, supporting the young tsar.
The amazing area of Chistie Prudy combines the bustle of the big city with its shops, cafes, restaurants and night-clubs with the tranquility of narrow side-streets with pre-revolutionary buildings, parks and recreation areas.
The school is situated on the fifth floor of a beautiful building which is included in the list of architectural monuments of Moscow and is protected by a special decree of the Moscow city hall.
